Every morning and throughout each day, my students gather on our meeting rug in the front of our classroom to listen to a great story, to tell their own incredible stories, and see their words come alive on paper. Our broken easel held together with large binder clips holds our chart paper until the unexpected moment it doesn't, and my students scamper away as I lunge forward to pick it up and clip it back in place. I would like to replace our broken easel with a safe, sturdy one that can meet all of our reading and writing needs. The new easel would store our large collection of big books and writing materials. It could also keep all of our manipulatives needed for phonics and math.
