Our school is located in an impoverished, rural area and is the hub of the community. Approximately 75% of our students qualify for free or reduced price lunch. This qualifies us as a Title 1 school. All of our students have the opportunity to perform for a school program at least once each year. We have a volunteer pianist, but sometimes students enjoy providing accompaniment for performances on classroom instruments. Since no budget is in place for instruments, any instrumental additions to our music classroom come from PTO requests or grants. Our students deserve to have a variety of instruments to use in performances and in the music classroom. They are very excited about the possibility of having our own djembe drum!
