Fun and engaging activities are what students remember the most. Learning and reviewing key concepts doesn't have to be boring. Worksheets are a thing of the past. Escape rooms and breakout boxes are challenging and high interest. We need sets of locks and boxes to use as an interactive breakout challenge. Each group of students will be given a plastic locking box that has multiple locks attached. A lock hasp will secure the box with six different types of locks attached. Word combo, number combo, directional, keyed, and two different types of 3 and 4 number combo luggage locks are used. Students are given an envelope of clue cards to start with. Each card can be custom tailored to meet the educational needs of each group. The cards will contain questions pertaining to current science or social studies content. As the clues are solved, the students use the codes discovered to open their locks and, eventually, the box. I plan on providing prizes to fill the boxes. I am requesting funds to purchase 6 boxes, 6 locking hasps, 36 various types of locks, and an educational guide book on constructing breakout boxes. We are living in a hands-on world. These boxes will allow my students to learn in a new and creative way.
