My class is made up of 25 students and all of them are Second Language Learners (ESL). Most do not have parents who speak English, so there isn't anyone to help them with school work at home. We are a high poverty school district, with almost 90% on free or reduced lunch. Many of the children struggle with the understanding of vocabulary and don't have background knowledge to make connections to what they read. Their parents are hard working people who have multiple jobs just to make ends meet.

About my class
