Hands-on learning is key to keeping children on task. Number corner is essential to teaching our standards and this calendar rug will create awesome opportunities within our number corner. Keeping track of number of days in the week, month, and school year provide us with wonderful possibilities for counting. Number corner is also a time to get our day off on a positive note by talking through our time apart since their departure the day before. It is also a time to set the expectations for the day. Using this rug, we will be able to do mental math to increase our fluency in addition and subtraction. Manipulating the numbers will be so helpful! Children relish the times when they get to show what they know! This rug will also double up to help cover part of our worn, dingy carpet.
