Student participation in classroom work dramatically enhances the student’s grasp of the material being taught. However, students are reluctant to come to the front of the class to participate in solving problems. Taking the Smart Board to the student reduces that reluctance. My school is located in an economically underdeveloped county in MS, and lacks the funding to provide the level of technology, tutoring, and other student benefits that can be found in higher income school districts. In fact, without the Title One funding that we receive, spending on the Promethean Smart Board and other funded technology programs would be virtually none-existent. As are most students, my students are visually stimulated with high participation in TV, video games, and similar visual stimuli. Therefore, the use of technology becomes more of a tool for engaging the students to interact, participate and thereby enhance their learning of the material being taught.;;;;
