I teach an amazing group of first graders at a partial magnet school providing arts infused education to K-4th grade, many of which live in poverty. We are growing our school as we go and do not have many resources.. that's why I need your help! My student's favorite time to the day is when we go to literacy stations. During literacy stations, students practice building their reading skills in small groups. An important component to learning how to read is LISTENING to reading. Hearing a book read aloud helps children see how the words on the page can come alive in a fluid, expressive way. It provides a model of fluent reading. I'd like to set up a listening center listening center so that 2-4 children can listen to the same book at the same time. This can provide a wonderful opportunity for children to hear their favorite books read aloud again and again.
