In our 12th grade English course, students use varied literary lenses to analyze complex modern texts. Their analysis is deepened in creative projects and explorations, as well as trips and collaborations outside of our school. In one section, we partner with Suffolk University to complete rich writing collaborations with freshman writing students through the Gateway to College Initiative. In our "Literature as Art" elective, students spend the spring writing poetry back and forth with students at Hampshire College, concluding their work with a visit, poetry reading, and anthology. As students become more critical as readers, writers, and thinkers, they develop works of writing that speak back to the world around them.
