I teach at a Performing Arts Magnet School in Huntsville, AL. The students at our school have access to additional arts classes that other schools don't offer such as dance, orchestra, show choir, creative writing, media arts and advanced drama productions. Our students come from all parts of the district, and from various socioeconomic backgrounds. In my classroom, students learn about the history of the United States through an arts integration approach. The students love learning about visual art, dance, music, and literature from the time period we are studying and it helps them to contextualize the information that they learn. In my Creative Writing class students express themselves creatively and gain exposure as young authors.
