I want to be able to give my current and future students access to relevant and rigorous texts that relate their interests and challenge them to think beyond their current world views. Currently, the few class sets available on my campus are either extremely outdated or are currently being taught by the lower grade levels. They need to be invested in the novels they read in class and be able to make real-life connections! These books will help me to do just that- engage my students and hopefully turn them into life long readers. Most of my students have not traveled outside the state but I want to be able to show them that with a good book you can travel the world and immerse yourself into different cultures, lives, experiences, and even worlds. I will use these novels to show students these worlds beyond what they've imagined and allow them to realize the right book in their hands makes them unstoppable.
