My students adore coming to school. We are located in a high-poverty neighborhood, and since so many of these children face a lot of struggles in their home life, our classroom is a place where they can come and feel safe, happy, and loved, all while furthering their education. I am very fortunate to have a classroom consisting of twenty-six students who are all so unique and bring so much to the table but fit together like a puzzle despite being so diverse. The children strive so hard to build their character and do their best so that they can make themselves and the people who care for them proud, so that they can learn and absorb as much as they possibly can, and so that they can have fun and enjoy their time with each other as young children. Everyone who visits our class comments on how hard-working and happy the children are and how they admire their behavior, learning strategies, and kindness to one another. Together we have created a very warm and inviting classroom.
