I teach in a small elementary school in a rural setting in Minnesota. There are two sections each of grade kindergarten through grade five. It is in a small community where school activities are often the focus of the family. Families are very connected to and involved in the school. Class sizes are relatively small in most grade levels, under 28 students. The parents of most of my students are actively involved in their children's education. The budget I receive for all materials for my class is $9.00 per student per year. This money does not stretch very far, so like most educators, I purchase many of the supplies I need.
