While I meet with students in small group reading, the other students will choose their SMART SPOT and seating option to complete their independent reading and writing work. They are able to work at their pace and at their comfort level. During guided math, they will be used at several stations where students meet with partners to solve problems and discuss their understanding of mathematical concepts. Smart Spots help encourage my students confidence because they are able to remain focused on their learning due to their ability to sit in ways their little bodies need for comfort. I have watched my students enter my classroom on the first day of school with excitement about what is yet to come. I want them to feel like this daily. I know with the ability for them to choose spots that work for them will assist in this effort. The books bins will help us store important class supplies.
