I am a 5th grade teacher at a PreK-8 school in the south end of Hartford, CT. I consistently reinforce the importance of friendship, teamwork, and community to the students in my class. I strongly believe that in order for students to succeed in school, they must feel valued and respected by both their teachers and peers. The buddy bench is a way to foster friendship and acceptance on the playground. The buddy bench encourages positive social interactions and empathy among students of all grade-levels. Having a buddy bench at our playground would impact our school community in a positive way!
