Reading is my favorite time of the school day, and a favorite for most of my students. Some kids would read all day if they could! Students curl up with a good book on the floor, read with me at the front table, or stay at their desk with a cozy pillow. We meet as a class to discuss books on the rug and kids use a notebook or sticky notes to record ideas. With all this movement, I'd like my kids to have an easy way to store and carry books and materials. Book bins are a smart way for kids to learn to stay organized and make mobility around the classroom easier. When it's time to meet at the rug, students will have all necessary materials at hand. There won't be a need to go back and grab extra materials. Fourth graders have a hard time organizing, and have a small book bin tucked away under their desks will keep their tabletop clear for completing work.
