The majority of my students come from a very high poverty environment. They struggle with eating regular, healthy meals, homelessness, and have little exposure to good and rich literature. While our district science and social studies curriculum covers many engaging topics aligned to our standards we still struggle to find supplemental activities that are interesting for our students and are also developing their critical thinking skills. My students have the desire to learn. They are captivated by facts that they find new and interesting and their brains are eager for enriching information. I want to be able to to provide this to them at a level that they are capable of reading and understanding.

About my class
