My Kindergarten students amaze me every day with their attitude towards learning; they are a vibrant group who come from many different backgrounds and life experiences. This past year has been our first year in all day Kindergarten. Although I was nervous as to what our day would look like, I have been amazed with the growth my students have made; they continue to surprise me with their thinking and willingness to try new activities. Along with a new program, we also have new reading guidelines and expectations. As said before, what my students have shown prove to me just how 5 and 6 year old children can become active readers and work independently or with partners to master beginning literacy skills no matter what their background or life experiences before school were. I am excited to see where the remainder of our year takes us!
