In my classroom we currently have two iPads. We use them for class activities but the students would greatly benefit from being able to have one they can use on an individual basis for things such as multiplication tables. The game based environment works great for the student population I work with. They will also be used in our classroom chess program. I teach the students how to play chess as it has many benefits. They learn critical thinking skills, how to manage impulsive behavior, how to interact with other students in a positive manner, and how to show good sportsmanship. The iPads would be used for giving chess instruction and for solving chess problems.
