My students come from a mixture of urban homes ranging in financial and ethnic background. As a result my class has learned a great deal about life from one another. Many of my students have faced hardships adults don't have to face and have become rough around the edges. We have worked together throughout the year to make our classroom a safe, respectful and peaceful place to work, learn and play. This population of students finds a safe haven in our nurturing, supportive and family oriented school. My students have learned to take on leadership roles, show their own initiative and invest in their own learning.
