This reading set will greatly assist my students with reading material that is 1) relevant to their lives, 2) real reading material for their generation, and 3) expose them to numerous concepts with various reading skills they should master at a 3rd grade level. My goal as a teacher is to inspire my young students to become avid readers, explorers, and inquirers of the world. Reading ignites thinking and this kit will help me keep the interests of my students in learning, as well as teaching them key skills for reading comprehension. Dr. Seuss always said, "The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." Reading is the key to learning and these kits will greatly assist with helping my students explore and inquire about more topics and engaging passages. My students have the most inquisitive minds, willing to search and seek answers about their world. With minimal exposure to many experiences in life, these reading kits would enable them to explore concepts they are not familiar with while practicing good reading habits. It would provide them the opportunity to have real materials in their hands in a world that provides them with black and white worksheets due to it's lack of resources. Students could explore various genres to read about, connect their learnings to images and text features found in this kit, and practice the essential skills of a reader at this grade level.
