My students are great kids. We have a very diverse school, with students from dozens of countries and backgrounds, and a wide spectrum of income and family educational backgrounds. All of their unique experiences allow them to create and problem-solve in new and exciting ways. Most are college-bound, and many of those will be the first in their family to graduate high school and enter higher education. They rely on our school to bridge that gap, preparing them for adulthood. I teach mostly accelerated (honors) and AP physics, with some of the highest-achieving students in the school. The students have high dreams, and will use every tool available to them in achieving their goals. I also teach struggling learners, with some of the most hardworking students in the school. Too many of them, unfortunately, dislike school and rarely see the value in what we do each day. Science classrooms are an area we can show--and experience--everyday phenomena and apply those lessons to daily life.
