J.C. Parks Elementary school serves over 700 students from the Waldorf/Bryan's Road, Maryland area. Our library has very little in technology which I plan to fix this year, my first year there as a Library Media Specialist. We do have 6 desktop computers which we plan to make full use of during rotating centers during library time. I am also going to update the book collection, as many books are outdated, warn, and the library is lacking newer books. Many of our students are coming from homes where parents are working multiple jobs and therefore are not home to encourage independent reading so I'm hoping we will have awesome books for the kids that they will WANT to read! The educators in our school are very supportive and are constantly looking for ways to overcome the school and community challenges.
