An average day in my classroom includes students engaging with each other in authentic ways. I implement whole brain teaching and utilize muscle memory learning techniques. Collaborating to dig deeper into content happens daily. Students are exposed to technology and are taught valuable computer skills. They are able to explain their thinking and work through screencasts, google classroom, video chats and much more. I teach between 30 and 40 of the most resilient children. Mitchell Elementary is a Title I school where all students are offered both free breakfast and lunch. It is located in an impoverished area. Kids come to school empty handed, often unable to provide their own supplies for the year. Many of these kids have experienced traumas at an incredibly young age that are beyond what I can even fathom.
