I teach Special Education in an inner-city school with a high poverty rate. Over 70% of our students qualify and receive free or reduced lunch. Our community is seeing a greater number of homeless children entering our school system each year . My students are middle school age and struggle, not only with outside issues, but also struggle academically with reading. Even though they have these struggles, they are really excited about coming to class each day and working on their reading skills.

About my class
