We are a rural low income district in a small town in Southern Ohio. Our students are 6th- 8th grade (330 students). In my science class, I feel hands on is the best way for students to learn. My students complete individual science research projects each year and can qualify to go to various level science fairs. They also complete may hands on group projects followed by class presentations. Using the scientific method, students participate in various projects throughout the year. One such project is raising Monarch butterflies. We search local fields and bring in Monarch eggs and caterpillars and milkweed to feed them. When they become butterflies we tag and release and report findings to monarchwatch.org. Last year, we built a butterfly habitat at school. Students researched elements and created element super heroes. These are just some of the projects. I want students to know that "Science Is Fun."
