My students need books at their reading level. They often only look at the pictures because they are still learning to read the texts available to them. There are not enough books available for my students to have for each of their daily reading activities, centers, and small group time with the teacher. Some of my students do not have leveled books at home to read as well, so often their only exposure to reading is at school. New books would mean students will gain confidence and a love for reading while improving their overall fluency and reading ability. This will also help prepare them for the next grade level.
