Mr. Lang's classroom library has seen better days. Over the years, books have been read multiple times and are showing wear and tear. Students have noticed that most books in the classroom library are old and have requested some new titles to keep them reading. We are requesting an updated classroom library and Kindle E-Reader which will allow visually impaired students to enlarge texts so they can enjoy reading too! Most of my students have demonstrated a love of reading both fiction and nonfiction texts related to the concepts being taught in my U.S. History classroom. They love reading books about World War II, the Holocaust, and other books about history and politics. Over the years, my classroom library has become a bit sparse and could use a bit of a refresh to keep students interested in reading. One of the other things that I have noticed is that most books targeted to high school teens are only available in standard text sizes. This is problematic for visually impaired students who need larger text in order to be able to read. While textbooks and other resources are often available in larger print sizes, books for pleasure reading often are not. The addition of a Kindle reader to our classroom library will mean that visually impaired students will also have the ability to read for pleasure. The addition of these books and E-Reader will mean that students in my class will continue reading both within and outside of the classroom. Thank you for your support.
