All children deserve to have access to the tools that will help them be successful, even if it is as little as basic school supplies. The sad reality is that many families struggle to provide their children with even these items, much less access to technology at home for educational use. Many of my students do not have any form of technology at home, and have limited access each week while at school for individual enrichment. Most of the students in my school come from low income working families in an urban area. All of the students at my school receive both breakfast and lunch completely free due to a high percentage of families considered as living in low income households. This is why I believe it's so important to have a classroom filled with as many technological opportunities for the students, such as iPads that will provide them a chance to use enrichment programs more regularly, helping to improve reading and math skills.
