My students are very diverse communicators. Some are verbal and the casual observer may not seem disable. Some are completely nonverbal and currently have no means of communication for social or academic purposes. My district will provide the app that we use to support communication but they do not provide the hardware. An iPad-based communication device will give my students another option to communicate as well as providing visual and verbal reinforcement during therapy, activities, and socialization. It is also more eco-friendly than printing and laminating what can become an excessive amount of visual supports.
