We are one of several, unique, self-contained, special education classrooms in our school. We serve students with emotional and behavioral disorders. These students have diagnoses ranging from autism spectrum disorder to bipolar disorder to severe ADHD. They are a very loving group of students just looking for people to accept them for who they are. To meet their needs academically, we must meet their needs for sensory input. We serve them a sensory diet that includes crunchy foods and exercises that help the students focus on their work. We have light filters over the lights and noise canceling head sets to remove distracting sensory. In addition to controlling their environment, we also teach social skills along side you're typical academic subjects. Our goal is to teach the students the skills they need to be successful in a general education classroom.
