We are fortunate that our students receive a fresh fruit or vegetable snack three times each week. We also have a school garden that provides fresh produce for our students. Our PE teacher does an excellent job with teaching healthy tips. Our students are still confused by what foods and activities are considered the healthiest. When we do our unit on the human body, my students have tons of questions. They want to know which foods help their muscles, which foods help give them energy, and which foods are the best for them to eat. They ask which activities burn the most calories. The students want to research these questions on their own, but we do not have enough technology for our class to use. They have asked me to see if I could get them Chromebooks like their older brothers and sisters have at the middle school. They want to use the Chromebooks to research nutrition, games around the world, and the Olympics. Students will be able to create slideshows about nutrition and other health-topics with these Chromebooks. They will also demonstrate the games from around the world. My students have also asked for some new playground equipment so they can move around more. This includes balls and sidewalk chalk. We will incorporate some of these balls in classroom activities. With these resources, our students will be able to get in sixty minutes of physical activity each day and learn about nutrition.
