My students love to play games in music class! It's a fun way to review concepts and gets them really singing. The majority of our games involve sitting in a circle, so we need a round classroom rug. We currently have a rectangular rug with a corresponding seating chart. Imagine trying to make a circle around a rectangular rug with six year olds! We usually end up in a rectangle with students squished together on one side, and big gaps on the other! Even my older students will love playing treble clef name games to reinforce the names of the lines and spaces. They learn the names in third grade, and use this knowledge when learning recorder in fourth grade.
