My students have all sorts of new experiences in their sixth grade year: seven teachers, a locker, a much larger school, and more. In the midst of this transitional period, my students also face the daily challenges of poverty. We are a Title I, historically low-performing, and high priority school that is making steady progress. My students in the next year will come from an even greater variety of backgrounds: up to 50% of students on our team will be English Language Learners, all of whom would benefit from flexible, individualized instruction. To help make this happen, I need consistent access to technology for my students. My students are bright, energetic, and capable kids in the midst of a great transition. Middle school is tough, no matter where you come from or where you go to school. I work every day to show them how much they know, and how much they can learn.
