Healthy students equals good attendance. Research indicates that absenteeism in preschool negatively impacts academic achievement, future attendance patterns, truancy and dropout rates in future grades. We need to make certain that we, as educators, do everything possible to help form good attendance patterns early on. One way to work towards this is to limit the germs in the learning environment. "Clean as a Whistle". Besides creating a warm, nurturing, safe and stimulating classroom, we need to ensure that our learning environment is as clean as possible. Research indicates that attendance patterns are formed in the early years of formal education. Healthy students correlate to consistent attendance which results in more learning. We use effective cleaning products often to fend off germs in our classroom. We use wipes and disinfectant to clean furniture and materials before and after each session of children. This certainly is one way to ensure our youngest learners are happy, healthy and in school!
