I work in a Title One school and 94 percent of the students are considered high risk. My students really enjoy science and my love for it. I never expected that I would not have the basic lab supplies. Forty percent of our class time should be labs, but we lack materials. The many of my students are Limited English Proficient, and they need modeling and lab activities. My school has encountered many hurdles this year, but my students are still trying to give me their best effort. We lack science materials, and the technology that is needed for this generation.. My students are always asking to do lab activities, and I purchase most materials with my own money. Having labs aids in student comprehension and engagement. I wish that I could have more supplies to reach my at-risk students and seal the language barriers through experimentation.
