My students come from diverse backgrounds, both culturally and economically. Some speak English well and others are ELL students learning in an American public school for the first time. Some students come from impoverished homes and see my classroom in our school as a safe haven. I have put countless pay checks towards materials for students. The materials were for school and survival. Some students had very little to no food at home. Some students didn't have a coat to wear in the wintertime. While I was able to donate food and clothing, I was not able to donate academic materials to my classroom; forcing me to purchase them Online/in stores. My students are hard working and with the essential materials needed in school, they succeed in goals they (and I) had set for them in the beginning of the year. I want this school year to be an even better year for my students!
