My students attend an urban school district with a high poverty rate. Literacy is key aspect at our school. Every morning we have our students reading for fifteen minutes. Our language arts classes devote even more time to reading in both their classes and at home. Reading is a crucial element at our school. We even have a reading incentive called the Million Word Club. All students who read one million word receive a cool t-shirt and are invited on an all day field trip where the get to go to Barnes and Noble and purchase more books!
