When students are involved in their learning, they truly understand the material at a greater level and dive deeper into the content. By incorporating Sphero robotic balls into my physics unit and, in general, my science classroom, the students will not only be involved in physics concepts and coding, but continue to engineer, collaborate, and be creative. Physics involves many concepts that can be difficult for students to grasp. Therefore, with hands-on learning and technology, my hope is that the students will truly learn the material rather than just memorize definitions. I teach six class periods of 8th grade students who are willing to learn, ask questions, and enjoy working with new technology. I have students from a wide range of economic backgrounds with a growing population of lower income students. My school has outdated science equipment that I am slowly trying to replace with a limited budget for my science department.
