Our class has a motto: " We Function at the Junction" because our chosen theme for the classroom is trains. Being an elementary teacher in a first grade classroom, I definitely need motivational and catchy statements to get students interested. I am employed at a large city school with 19 students. Our school's demographic composite is very diverse with varied learning levels as well. The school puts forth a concerted effort to address all the needs of each student. Many of the skills that are taught are addressed during morning meetings, mini-lessons, and whole group sessions. Many of those activities mentioned are done during carpet time. My students really enjoy our circle time in and morning and afternoon. Students get to interact, share ideas, and be involved in a responsive setting.
