The sensory room is a place that has the lights turned down, is quiet and allows the students to take necessary breaks throughout their day at school. Bright lights and loud sounds can be overwhelming for students with special needs. Sensory swings, sensory lights, sensory toys and soft flooring will allow them to reorganize their nervous system by receiving the sensory input that they need and crave. The sensory room that is being created will be a place for present and future students to "escape". The sensory room will provide a safe place for these students to "escape" when their minds and bodies are overwhelmed. Most importantly it provides each student with a place to learn to use their senses through hands-on experience.
