To foster reading and writing in my classroom I would like to create a writing center and a reading nook optimize teaching and learning in my class. These areas will provide students with greater opportunities to connect more intimately with literature, to increase their comprehension levels, improve fluency, and ultimately increase their love for reading and writing. When students find a place that feels right, have a good place to sit, and have supplies they need, they THRIVE! These may seem like small details, but this matters a great deal when students have a physical space that is comfortable to foster reading and writing, where they can water and weed their garden of words. Donations for our project will allow students to reach that next level in reading and writing. Your donations to this project will create the "Living Room Effect". When students are relaxed, they are more ready to learn. The Reading Nook will include comfortable seating and lighting for students. The Writing Center will include supplies to link into the students creativity; colored pens, paper, etc. Help me get my students out of the regimental rows of hard chairs to a more relaxed environment that fosters teaching and learning.
