My school is a high priority school, with a very diverse population of students, for many English is a second language. My students are all very bright, but some of them don't know it yet. They need to develop confidence in themselves and what they are capable of. There aren't many neighborhood preschools, so unfortunately many of the students start school without the readiness that many of us take for granted. They are at risk of losing out on all school has to offer. In my third grade classroom student achievement ranges from far below level to well above. The majority of students fall in the average to below average range. They are amazing kids they just keep working! They are making strides everyday towards "fluency." They are resilient and energetic, they ask questions- thinking questions. On top of all that they come to school with positive attitudes.
