Books are an engaging way to teach topics such as making mistakes, or making new friends. Children's books are colorful and the word choice delightful. Children will learn about classroom community, positive mindset, kindness, and many other social aspects in life. The books I chose can be used to teach the students that making mistakes isn't always a bad thing, remembering to be kind to everyone, and that everyone will have a "grumpy" day once in awhile! In education we call children's books that can be used to teach a lesson a mentor text. Each book on my list can be used as a mentor text for teaching or for the student to read and enjoy.
