My students need bean bags, chairs, and a couch to create a Peace room for students to gather and reflect on their day. These items will aid in restorative practices by providing comfort to students while they debrief to those who they feel most comfortable speaking with. These items will assist in creating a atmosphere for focusing more on teaching reasonable solutions and less on disciplinary actions. With the huge CPS budget cuts, and the lack of funding, there is no money to create this room. This room will help assist in developing strategies to minimize the discipline problems within the school by providing students a positive place to talk about issues, rather than quickly acting on their feelings.
