The students at DC International School are unique and talented. Most of them are at least bilingual, having studied a second language in full immersion since PreKindergarten. Until this year, DCI students didn't have a library or a full time librarian, despite many of them being avid readers. Now open, the DCI library was a labor of love by a group of students who helped to organize, process and shelve our physical collection. These same students help to plan programming, offer book recommendations to others, and volunteer almost daily in the library. Aside from running the library program, I specifically teach one class called library elective. This is a class in which students learn more about books and libraries, and help to serve as library ambassadors for the school. Our students are multilingual, talented and extremely caring and collaborative.
