Every dime in our library budget goes to the newest and most requested books by the kids to keep them excited about reading. This a great way to get reluctant middle school kids to read. It works, but there is nothing left for extras. Having the funding to add flexible seating would really be a great way to compliment our reading program. They love the library and want a place to read where they can settle in and enjoy their book. Our few tables and hard chairs are used up by kids doing school work. In the picture you can see some kids coming on their own, not during class, to read in the few seats we have. The window is good, but the seats from this project would make it great. The kids want to be here and have even mentioned that they wished for somewhere to be able to curl up and read. Sometimes the library is the only quiet space they get during the day or after school. Giving them another reason to stay longer and read is exactly what this project will do.
