I teach a full-day class of twenty, Pre-k children who are four and five years old. Included in my class are mainstreamed special education children. I teach in a Title 1 school with ninety percent of the students receiving free and reduced-price breakfasts and lunches. Our school is a high poverty school. My students are very curious and eager to learn but they are only able to sit still for short periods of time. Pre-K students learn best by being able to work in active centers where they can manipulate materials.
