I teach in an urban school district in NJ. Most of my students do not have access to computers/technology at home. They get excited when we have center time, because they know they will get to use the computer for 15-20 minutes. I wish they could be that excited about learning all day long! The administration and staff at our school is amazing. Our school is overpopulated. Parents transfer their children into our school because they know their child will receive a good education. We work very hard with the resources we have to create a safe, fun, learning environment for our students. Our school consists of students in grades 1-8. When our school is granted technology it usually goes to the testing grades, 3-8, so they can prepare the students properly. The first grade students would greatly benefit from having more technology in the classroom. It will help them stay focused and get excited to come to school.
