We learn by doing! This is especially true when learning a second language. Students who create their own learning aids, posters, cultural decorations increase internalization and rate of mastery of the language standards for skills and culture. The cultural and art standards for learning "foreign languages" is not just for fun but research shows that the arts help students connect with what they are learning on a deeper, personal level. Internalizing lesson objectives by creating an interesting study aid, or linking ideas about the target culture based on art, music and drama increases the ability to learn and retain lesson objectives.
