Let me introduce you to my students. They are an amazing and unique group. My students attend a large 6A high school. In my class, you would find regular education students, special education students and English as a Second Language students. I have a large mix of all three types. My students try hard, but sometimes they lack the confidence to think they can achieve great things. Majority of my students come from a low socio-economic background. Many of them go home to one parent homes. They are lucky if they see that parent at all because either their parent works, or they work to provide income for their family. Many of my students go home to younger siblings where they play the role of the parent. Some of my students even go home to non-english speaking households where they try to help their parents learn English. Many of my student's families barely make ends meet, and asking them to bring basic supplies such as pens, notebooks and markers is very hard.
